IN PROGRESS: Laia Abril - Hoda Afshar - Widline Cadet - Adama Jalloh - Alba Zari presents a collection of solo shows by five of today's most innovative photographers and photo-based artists. The exhibition places emphasis on each of the artist's individual projects, motivations, and creative practices, and intentionally refrains from linking them to an overarching theme or idea.

Featuring new works alongside work-in-progress, this exhibition explores personal history, cultural identity, nationality, community, migration, displacement, responsibility, belief, morality, and memory. It highlights the diverse possibilities that photography offers in terms of research, investigation, critique, and self-expression, in the pursuit of both artistic and social progress.

In part, it draws its inspiration from the first exhibition curated by John Szarkowski at the Museum of Modern Art – Five Unrelated Photographers: Heyman, Krause, Liebling, White, and Winogrand (1963) – a group of one-man shows that focused on the individuality and independence of each photographer. Collectively, this exhibition celebrates contemporary photography at its most diverse, dynamic, and progressive.
