• At the table, I mentioned a scrapbook that I’d found at the dump near my house in England a few years ago. It was filled with postcards, brochures, tickets and printed placemats.
• The scrapbook had been made by a boy in the mid-1970s, when his family had spent a year traveling around the northeast of America.
• 'Did you keep it?' Jason asked.
• 'Of course,' I said.
• I grew up in western Massachusetts.
• It reminded me of childhood camping trips, road trips in the backseat with both windows open, and Sunday breakfasts at small-town diners. |
