• Five years ago, I took some portraits at a country-and-western festival in England.
• The name is what first caught my eye – ‘The South Will Rise Again’; imagine seeing that on a giant sign as you drive through the British countryside.
• The incongruity between their costumes – Custers, Confederates, Cowboys, Indians – and their accents –Brummie, Welsh, Scouse, Geordie – was startling. |
